BLOOMINGTON, MINNESOTA (May 4, 2020) – Established in 1971, one of the Portable Sanitation Association International’s (PSAI) missions is to increase understanding of the role portable sanitation can play in addressing global public health challenges. Stepping into her new role as President of the Board of Directors, Jennifer Corrigan has her work cut out for her.

With the global COVID-19 pandemic, portable sanitation is considered an essential service. Yet some challenges have arisen in the industry, especially in logistics, loss prevention, and supply. The Portable Sanitation Industry has always advocated for hand wash stations and/or hand sanitizer to be required like their counterpart, the portable toilet.

Now with COVID19, there has been a significant demand of hand wash stations and hand sanitizers. Portable Sanitation manufacturers are working around the clock to meet these needs. With the increase of equipment provided to general contractors, municipalities and the general public logistical challenges can arise. Though managing unique logistical hurdles are not uncommon for the industry, the members of the PSAI have been collaborating weekly via Zoom to better the industry in these trying times.

Since late 2002, Corrigan has been a member of the PSAI and elected to the board by her peers in 2016. The following year she was appointed the Executive Board of Directors where she served as secretary. Later she became the PSAI’s 2018 Treasurer, 2019 Vice President, and now the 2020 President.

"Jennifer is very passionate about portable sanitation," says Diana Molloy, regional sales manager, JW Craft. "She takes her job seriously and goes to great lengths to educate our customers. She's taught me and our team so much. I don’t think we could find someone more knowledgable than her. She's not just a boss but a friend in and out of the office. Because of her knowledge on how to find upcoming projects, she's provided a lot of information to propel our company to even greater sales."

Typically a member's term on PSAI's Executive Board lasts one year. But the board decided to temporarily extend terms to two years due to meeting complications as a result of COVID19. Therefore each board member will serve through 2022.

"The portable sanitation industry is filled with capable people, but only a few are able to dedicate time to serving others through a demanding Board leadership role," says Karleen Kos, Executive Director, PSAI. "I am delighted Jennifer is one of those people. In addition to carrying out the duties of care, loyalty, and obedience that are required of all Board volunteers, Jennifer brings energy and imagination to the work. Now is a particularly good time for those gifts in a Board President. I look forward to working with her."
